At the Reunion Tio Reny brought
up the possible Basque origin of Elazegui...So, I followed up
on his lead. If our name is of
Basque origin, I have figured
out that the original name
was most likely Elizegui

In the Basque language (Euskera):
Elizegui is formed by the root
"eliza..." meaning "church"
and the ending
"...tegui" meaning
"place where they are"

If this is the case, our ancestors, whether it was in Basque or the Philippines, must have lived
in a place where there
were churches.
